The project of University Centre (UC) is being constructed for Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) under the supervision of AKUH Capital Projects Division. Payette Associates Inc. (Boston, USA) is principle Architect whereas Ebrahim & Chaudhry is a local project architect. Structural Consultant is Abdur Razzque Associates, HVAC & Mechanical Consultant is Y.H. Associates & Electrical Consultant is A.S. Consultant. M/s. Total Construction has awarded this contract as Prime Lead Contractor for Civil Works whereas HVAC, Mechanical and Electrical works have awarded to M/s. Seasons Master and M/s. New Electric & Radio Co. (NERC) respectively. Project civil works awarded to Total Construction on 3rd April 2017. The project started on 11th April 2017. The total duration for completion of project scope is 36 months i.e. 3 years (for Civil Works), which infers that the planned completion date will be 02nd April 2020.
PROJECT AS-BUILT LOCATION & COVERED AREA DETAILS:
University Centre stands on the eastern side of existing CIME building and northern side of the living community of Al-Aman Tower while its southern face is towards New Private Wing (NPW) building (under construction). UC comprises of 4 Basements (Basement 4 to Basement 1), Ground plus 16 Floors. Area of the building is varying with respect to floors i.e. from Basement 4 to Basement 1, the area is 55,600 square feet of each floor whereas from the ground to the 4th floor the area of the building is 24000 square feet of each floor. From 5th to 16th floor, the area stands at 14000 square feet of each floor, the Total Covered area of the complete building will be 500,000 sft approximately.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT:
This project is equipped with Hitech BMS facilities with all controlling arrangement through its control and monitoring rooms. It will be the first high rise building of Aga Khan University hospital which construction credit goes over to M/s. Total Construction as a lead contractor who is implementing advanced project management and value engineering in order to achieve comprehensive liaison and coordination between all project stakeholders to achieve quality construction within the provided timeline.
